Man shot twice at Okaloosa Island apartment, deputies say

A man in his 20s was shot twice inside an Okaloosa Island apartment early Thursday, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office told WJHG.
Deputies were called to the Billfish Avenue area around 1 a.m. Thursday after reports of gunfire, according to WJHG. They found the man inside an apartment with two gunshot wounds.
The man told deputies he opened his door and was confronted by an unknown person pointing a gun, and that he was shot twice before he could close the door, WJHG reported.
He was conscious and alert when EMS took him to a local hospital.
