A house on Cape Avenue on the west end of Panama City Beach took a direct lightning strike during Sunday night’s severe thunderstorm, around 8:40 PM. Dispatch audio said there was no smoke or flames, but the strike knocked out power to the home, and multiple fire units responded to check it.
The National Weather Service had the area under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for 60 mph wind gusts at the time. No injuries were reported. Map shows the general neighborhood only.
