A Fort Walton Beach woman was arrested September 12, 2026, on a warrant charging her with discharging a firearm in public, according to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office records.

According to a warrant affidavit prepared by Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jason Register, the alleged incident occurred August 30, 2026, in a Fort Walton Beach neighborhood. The affidavit states that deputies responded to the area on a shots-fired call.

Upon arriving, the affidavit states, the investigating deputy contacted the defendant, Jessie Felicia Rena Sharpe, nearby. According to the affidavit, Sharpe spontaneously stated that she had fired her handgun into the air. The deputy reported locating three expended 9mm shell casings at the scene. The affidavit describes the location as a densely populated residential neighborhood.

After being advised of her Miranda rights, Sharpe told the deputy, according to the affidavit, that she had been home alone and believed she heard an intruder inside. She stated she did not see or locate anyone inside, exited with her firearm, and intentionally fired three shots into the air, despite not seeing any intruder, the affidavit states.

Based on those reported facts, Deputy Register stated in the affidavit that he had probable cause to believe Sharpe violated Florida Statute 790.15(1), discharging a firearm in public or on residential property. A warrant was issued September 9, 2026, by a judge of the First Judicial Circuit, and Corporal George Vasquez served it on September 12, 2026. Sharpe was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail under booking number 2026-004756. Court records indicate she was released; a court appearance is listed for September 29, 2026, at Misdemeanor South Court in Fort Walton Beach. The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent her.
